Tiger, less than 24 hours!
April 29th, 2005 | by nomaded | 0 viewsOk, I'm a total geek, but this isn't news to anyone who knows me. I've already planned, with my GF to be at the local Apple B&M around 7PM, tomorrow (today), April 29, to stand in line to purchase Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
I also hope to be able to get something else. I'm really thinking about replacing my 3G 40GB iPod with a 2nd gen 60GB iPod photo, or maybe a 2nd gen 6GB iPod mini (I haven't decided which one yet). The key to this purchase going through is if the B&M will also have a 10% sale on any additional Apple product that's bought at the same time as Tiger. I know Apple had this sale for Panther's release, so I'm really hoping that they'll do the same thing this time. They haven't announced anything of the sort yet, but I don't remember if the sale that went with Panther was announced ahead of time, or not.
I guess the really silly thing is that I'm not sure if I'll be installing Tiger this weekend or not. I may hold off a little bit - like a few days, til the middle of the week. And if I do hold off, and the Apple B&M doesn't have the 10% off sale, I have to wonder why I'm buying Tiger tomorrow (today).
I guess some of it is the hype - I did buy Windows 95, on the day it was released, on my way back to college for fall semester of my sophomore year. But after reading some of the articles that came out today, I'm really looking forward to some of the features, namely Spotlight and Automator. I'm also looking forward to the "modest speed increase" that Tiger is supposed to bring to existing Panther installs.
